Sheriff Speziale offically took office on January 1st, 2002, for his first three-year term.
"My vision is for a community free of fear. A community that is open and belongs to the honest citizen, without the influence of corruption, where our kids are safe, and their parents and grandparents can work and live in peace"
''I'm the sheriff who thinks it's extremely important to get in the face of the criminal element, and tell them: 'Here we are, and we're coming after you. If you're across an ocean, we're going to reach out and suck you back.'''
"The hard work and dedication of officers from both Passaic County and DEA that were involved in this historic incident should be commended. Seizures of this nature occur because of experienced and alert law enforcement officers. The more large scale confiscations of this nature, the fewer illegal substances find their way onto our streets,”
Passaic County Sheriff Jerry Speziale and Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura joined homeland security experts and professionals from across America to discuss new trends in emergency preparedness and best practices in the homeland security community. Fontoura and Speziale were nominated to attend todays summit by U.S. Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ). New Jersey Transit executive director George Warrington was also scheduled to attend but could not due to the Amtrak power outage.
"My objective is to bring people together, working for a better, safer and more sensitive Passaic"
"And as everyone knows, there is just no replacing the office out in the community who interfaces with the people and gathers the most important intelligence directly from the streets"
"More than any other elected official, the Sheriff has a direct effect on the quality of life enjoyed by you and your family. Therefore, you must choose the most qualified individual who also boasts a proven record"
